New song time…hopefully now working!

It seems to be cloudy whenever there’s an eclipse which makes it really hard to get a decent shot.
This is my best effort of yesterday’s partial solar eclipse. By the afternoon clear skies but no eclipse by then. Pah!
This would have been a disaster if I was about to be burnt as a witch and needed to get a dragon to start eating the sun or something. Luckily this time no such event occurred.

Exactly where songs come from remains a mystery to me even after writing them on and off for 40 something years. This one, however, is an exception…… after I played the final version of “Goodnight Mary Ellen” to a friend who’d heard it in various stages of its production he said (something like),
“That’s come on a lot, really like it, you must be really pleased how that’s turned out,”
“To tell the truth,” I replied, “I’m just glad it’s out of the way.”
“Now that, ” he said, “Is a great punk song title.”
Sometimes phrases do hit you and you think they might make a good song line and he was totally right about this. As soon as he suggested it I set to work on it. A little bit of storyboarding over a couple of days and the song was born…… cheers Oli!

My 13th song in a little under twelve months….very nearly an album’s worth (one more short track to go). This is a piano written and indeed based track so maybe a little different.
For those who remember The Waltons, this song isn’t Waltons related….the title/line just came into my head while I was writing. For those who don’t remember The Waltons….well either your memory is poor or you’re too young….curse you and your youth!

The song will be on Spotify and the other streaming services in a few days but I choose the BandCamp link as it means I can embed a player that lets anyone listen without needing to add anything extra.
