fondly remembered trains

This was the working title of this latest song but then, as it neared release, it changed to “The World Turns”. Then I had a discussion with a few fellow home recordists and songwriters about the importance of song titles in these days of streaming ways, so called liberated days. Once people started saying they preferred the train version of the title I suddenly realised I was more attached to it too. There are, by the way, two different trains in the song…they’re not the same train. This may be important.

Anyway this is the BandCamp link but it’s also on Spotify and Apple Muzac etc, etc……

Excellent start to the 2021 album! I got 10 songs of yours last year, a good amount for a record, so I made it one.

I like hearing the backstory of the songs. Why and what two trains?

    Thanks as always scoakat.
I was thinking about putting all the rleases into an album with maybe a couple of bonus tracks…then I got bogged down trying to work out which order worked best……so I gave up.

The train in verse one will remain a mystery for the moment.

The train in verse 3 that I didn’t steal would have been in nineteen seventy-something. We had a railway track at the end of our garden growing up. As daft kids do we used to play near the tracks. It wasn’t a major line and sometimes the drivers, having stopped at the signal, would make as if they were going to get down from the train….so we talked about egging them on and…..
It’s just one of those moments that sticks in my memory, did quite a few daft things as a kid but somehow scraped through…..

Didn’t we all do that kind of thing as kids? LOL, it’s a wonder we survived to adulthood!

    …it really is, Scoakat!
