Planarchy Soapbox A to Z

B is for Batteries

Well, not actually Batteries themselves as they can be quite useful.  No, what I object to is the myriad different classification schemes that seem to exist for even the most basic battery types.  You buy an electronic item, which obviously does not include batteries.    You look at the box and try and work out what size Batteries might be required.  Then you notice that the packaging helpfully tells you that you require 2 x AA's or 2 x MN1500 or even 2 x LR6.

Except they're all the same thing.

Which is the rub.

Can we not just agree on one standard battery naming system?

I, you'll be surprised to learn, have my own system.  Oh yes.
The rest of the DKNZ is slowly getting to grips with it but, as yet, Duracell haven't shown any interest.
However, I do not require royalty payments so feel free to adopt it if you so wish.  It goes like this.....

D, MN1300, LR20s will be known as BIG BATTERIES;
C, MN1400, LR14s will be known as MIDDLE SIZED BATTERIES;
AA, MN500, LR6s will be known as LITTLE BATTERIES;
those cute AAA, MN2400, LR03s will be known as VERY LITTLE BATTERIES
and MN1604, 6LR61s will be known as SQUARE BATTERIES (though I know they're not really square).

I know this leaves out all the weird and wonderful camera, watch and hearing aid batteries but hey, 'tis better to light a candle than stand and deny the dark.  Lighting a candle with a battery is another matter altogether.
